What’s The Buzz On Stamp Collecting?

Image
What’s The Buzz On Stamp Collecting? In most states and counties, it is common to find a variety of groups catering to the hobby of collecting stamps. People engage in stamp collecting as a general interest; other times they are in it because of the possibility of profit in collecting rare stamps. This profit comes from the fact that stamps hold a degree of history of a community, or even an entire country. While some people collect stamps without regard for its quality or details, the more dedicated stamp collectors who understand this profitability pay attention to a variety of details that would determine the worth of the stamp. CONDITION The first and most simple rule of thumb is—if the stamp is damaged, it’s likely to be worth very little, or worth nothing at all. The condition of the stamp plays a huge factor especially with dedicated collectors. Stamp Philatelic - Philately In Brief

Image
Philately In Brief Philately is a term derived from Greek, comprising two words i.e. Philos (friend) and Atelia (liberation). This term was for the first time used by Herpin, aFrenchman, in 1864. A hobby in collection stamps was developed in England and extended to the whole world, including Indonesia. The exploration of this new hobby has given rise to a curiosity to learn and search more about the history of stamps and other philatelic products as scientific object. This hobby is called philately, and the person who has this hobby is a philatelist. Thus, a philatelist is actually a stamp expert. A stamp collector may not be regarded as philatelist unless supported by knowledge and experience in stamp properties. On the contrary, a philatelist does not necessarily collect stamps or possesses a huge collection of stamps. Nevertheless, in line with the current development, the term philatelist is used for both stamp expert and stamp collector. Stamp Philatelic - Philately In Brief
