Stamps Of USA - The First US Postage Stamps
In the year 1902, about 65 years after Queen Victoria appears on British stamps, and 55 years after the first U.S. postage stamp issued, 8-cent Martha Washington was the first US stamp to feature a woman.
Stamp with the image Mrs. Washington was first introduced when the United States began to recognize the importance of woman's contribution to the community. Although women at that time have not the right to vote, suffrage movement is the main conversation topic.
US postage stamp also indicates that the development time, the difference in rights between men and women are missing. At least US postage stamp has a message that women increasingly recognized role in the international world.
